Know-How for Travels and Stays / A1 documentation from the 1st of January 2021
The aforementioned changes introduced by the protocol to the EU-UC TCA result, brings significant changes compared to previous cross-border employee assignments in the UK.
- Assignments are possible for a maximum of 24 months
- There is no possibility to conclude exemption agreements.
- The coordination of family benefits (child and parental benefits) is expressly excluded.
- Long-term care insurance is not included in the material scope of application
Flexibility
There is often an interest - understandable and justified - in remaining in the original security system even in the case of long-term assignments.
In the future, it will become even more important to plan work-related stays in the United Kingdom. If there is a departure from the domestic pension insurance obligation, voluntary pension insurance contributions must be considered.
Without adequate compensation, there is a risk of a reduction in the pension level.
According to the DVKA, the provisions of EU Regulation EC 883/2004 will continue to apply to individuals deployed to the United Kingdom or Germany before December 31, 2020, until the end of the stay. The prerequisites are a continuous deployment and a maximum duration of 24 months. The stay will be evidenced by the A1 certificate.
We will be glad to support you if you have any further quesitons.
